In this era with global emphasis on innovation, the issue of creativity development has become more important and urgent. To this end, this paper has investigated the development of creativity tendency of junior middle school students. The findings have shown that: firstly, a high-level development of creativity cannot be found in junior middle school students with two dimensions of curiosity and imagination at average level; secondly, there is no significant difference in the categories like gender, interest and hobbies for this research, but there exist significant differences in different grades and permanent addresses; thirdly, there exist significant differences in the bivariate correlation between students’ creativity tendency and their average scores. This paper suggests the following improvement strategies based on the research findings: firstly, stakeholders’ creativity concept needs to be changed; secondly, it is advisable that creativity training courses be developed and incorporated into school-based courses; finally, autonomous construction of knowledge should be regarded as an important way to develop students’ creativity. |
