The aesthetic education in middle schools is the curriculum about “beauty”. with “seeking beauty” as its teaching process and “appreciation of beauty” as its main content, which is the main purpose of the curriculum to enhance students’ aesthetic ability, which is consistent with the main points of “aesthetic taste” in core competency. From the example of Preface of the Orchid Pavilion, this paper discusses how aesthetic education cultivates core competency from the following aspects: for the design of teaching content, special attention should be paid to beauty appreciation process of how students actively discover beauty, experience beauty, feel beauty, internalize beauty and then construct individual beauty; for setting up teaching objectives, students can make contact with the world through art appreciation and improve their aesthetic quality; for the arrangement of teaching process, the beauty of Preface of the Orchid Pavilion should be appreciated three times in order to achieve the core competency of aesthetic education; for teaching methods, students should be instructed to appreciate concrete beauty, then abstract beauty and then concrete beauty again. Such teaching design and process can reflect the students’ active participation and help cultivate their core competency. |
