In the teaching of ancient poetry, emphasis should be put on cultivating students’core competency for their Chinese learning and thus clear and specific teaching strategies are in great need. This paper suggests three methods of implementation, including how to understand poems through the appreciation of words and expressions, how to employ a proper teaching method based on the content and style of the poem, and how to direct the focus of poetry teaching to the language itself. Moreover, students can be guided to appreciate the language of a poem with the following four specific strategies, that is, understanding poetic metre, imagining themselves being in the poem, exploring the words through comparison and trying to imitate the classics in order to better implement core competencies in classroom teaching. |
