      地处苏州河和黄浦江交汇处的外白渡桥是上海的地标之一，因其独特的位置和历史，成为含义复杂的文化符号。自电影诞生以来，外白渡桥频繁出现在电影作品中，表征不同的意味。与东方明珠、金茂大厦、上海中心、世博中国馆等同样带有鲜明上海印记的载体相比，外白渡桥在共时性和历时性都具有无可比拟的优势：一方面它建成最早，见证了上海乃至现代中国的百年历程，另一方面它既融入外滩建筑群中，又置身于与浦东陆家嘴摩天大楼建筑群的对比中，无论从共时性空间还是历时性时间的维度，都有耐人寻味的阐释空间。

英文摘要:

      As a representative of Shanghai buildings, the Garden Bridge of Shanghai (Waibaidu Bridge), at the junction of the Suzhou River and Huangpu River, has a complicated meaning because of its history and special location. Waibaidu Bridge had been frequently appeared in a lot of movies. Based on the theories of cultural geography and spatial semiotics, this paper analyses the cultural connotations of Waibaidu Bridge as a symbol of modern civilization, colonial existence, modernity and social landscape in movies of different periods.
