In recent years, we have often seen the argument that the criticism of traditional thought, especially Confucianism, by modern Chinese philosophy has resulted in the disaster of cutting off the lifeblood of tradition. This is without theoretical basis. The domain of modern Chinese philosophy focuses on four aspects: historical view, epistemology (the view of knowledge and action), logic and methodology, and the ideal society and ideal personality. An examination of these domains shows that, in terms of the vertical connection between modern Chinese philosophy and traditional philosophy, there is a unity of change and inheritance, which means that modern Chinese philosophy does not simply deny traditional philosophy, but gives it a modern vitality. In terms of the horizontal connection between modern Chinese philosophy and modern Western philosophy, it is the unity of reform and integration, which means that modern Chinese philosophy is influenced by Western philosophy, but not its transfer. In other words, it is the creative achievements of the integration of Chinese and Western. |
