      盐铁会议和《盐铁论》是研究西汉历史的重要史料，但是对于盐铁会议的实质，学者们莫衷一是。有主张盐铁会议是儒法之争者，也有认为盐铁会议是政策之争者，还有认为盐铁会议是权力之争者。事实上，盐铁会议是当时社会各种矛盾叠加的产物，要准确把握盐铁会议的本质，就必须从盐铁会议背后所反映的各种矛盾入手。文章认为，盐铁会议的实质是儒法二家在国策之价值取向上的分歧与对立，这次会议是儒学由思想文化进入政治文化的一个标志。

英文摘要:

      The Salt and Iron Meeting and On Salt and Iron are very crucial historical materials to research the West Han Dynasty. However, scholars have no unanimous conclusions on the essence of The Salt and Iron Meeting. Based on the achievements of previous studies, the paper holds that the Salt and Iron Meeting was the embodiment of value conflicts and confrontations between Confucianism and Legalism. The meeting also indicated that Confucianism had evolved from the ideological culture into political culture.
